My name is Johan Clausen, I’m 34 years old and lives in Roskilde, a city about 30 km from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Since I was about 4-5 years old I have been interested in photography. I started with my dad, who took a lot of pictures when I was a kid. In my 11th years birthday I got my first camera. A simple point-and-shoot film camera. In 2004 I got my first digital camera. Again a point-and-shoot. But already the following year I got my first DSLR. In the beginning it was mainly the local area, my family and various celebrations in it, like baptisms, birthdays and similar. Of course I also took a lot of vacation pictures.
In 2013 to 2016 I was a part of a small photo group, where the 2-3 other members were models and I was the photographer. It was relaxing but also really something where I learned a lot. Both about how to work and talk to models but also about lighting and how to edit pictures. Until then it was mainly just basic editing I made without any fancy programs like Photoshop and Lightroom. We worked together a lot and had many shoots both all of us, some of us or just two of us.
I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel all around the world and have visited some very interesting places along the way, like New Zealand, USA, Canada, Croatia, Slovenia, UK, France, Germany, Estonia, Greenland and Faroe Islands. Soon I’m also heading to China for the first time.
After a change in my life recently, due to my moms death in 2017, I’m currently trying to take more pictures than I have done in the past. And I have found my interest again to be portraiture and people photography.
Besides photography my interests are mainly music and history, but also genealogy have become an interest of mine because of my American family. I’ve visited them once and hopefully I’m going to visit them again within a few years.
